Do you need a website, here's a brief overview of what's involved.
Posted by Carl Hawkins on 10 November 2011 02:54 PM

Visuallink offers high quality website design and hosting for your business.

In today's market it can be difficult to be self assured you have found the correct business to plan - create & maintain your online business presence, to be honest when we look at what our competitors are doing to promote and build their business we can see from a buyers point of view ( Yours ) it must be a very difficult choice to feel confident that you are talking to the right people about your requirements.

since 2007 we have helped many businesses from a range of fields to obtain a solid online presence thus creating a robust sales team working for your company, here's the usual sales tag that usually goes with this statement "Working for you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year" - Yes one of the usual sales pitches...But Its True!!

We take several steps along the process of starting your website, such as:

1:we take details from you, either via phone or emails, we gather information such as your requirements, what your competitors are doing, what your likes and dislikes are, good ways to cover possible ideas are to look at other websites out there and tell us what sites you would like to compete with..Your company may already have its own identity, you may already have logos, headed paper, compliment slips, if so we can work with you and create a design that mixes with existing designs and colours.

2:Once some of the information has been gathered we will work on and supply screenshots via email or upload a working single page example of your new build, this will let you see roughly where we are going with your design, in our opinion feedback is great (good or bad), we want to give you what you need!

3:once a design concept has been approved we will then gather more information, content for your pages, images that should be used and build the rest of your website basing each page on the design of the approved sample.

Some advice and things to consider:

1:REGISTER YOUR OWN DOMAIN NAME.
Why? well when you are looking at the possibilities of having your own website and you consider the costs involved it's easy to disregard the importance of registering your own domain name, it's easy for us to bundle together a complete package and register it for you, but we believe that one of your most important steps when creating an online presence is for you to visit a leading domain name registrar such as 123-reg.co.uk and choose your own name, this way YOU own and are responsible for a KEY factor on your online business.

Whomever you use to build your site whichever service you decide to purchase from, they may help you with ideas for what your domain name should be, but YOU should register it.

2:LOOK AT OTHER WEBSITE DESIGNS.
Imagine their website branded as your own, look at their logos and photos and in your mind's eye visualize how their website would look with your content, if you look at several websites in this way you can advise us easier as to what you hope to achieve when building your online presence, this way as we work together we are reading from the same page so to speak.

3:WORK ON YOUR TEXTUAL CONTENT.
If you already have marketing material such as paper based brochures, flyers or any other kind of textual content then you have a head start when putting together the text that will be on your website, if you don't you will need to take time out and work on the text that will advertise what you are all about..Here's another sales pitch quote from the gurus and the online marketing whiz kids.. "Content is King"..Again this is TRUE! so our advice is "YOU must Work on your Textual content"..We are great at what we do! but no one knows your business better than YOU!

4:PHOTOGRAPHIC MATERIAL.
Today almost all of us have digital cameras, if not it's easy to find someone who does have access to one, so obtaining digital copies ready for use on your website shouldn't be a problem, one thing to consider is that if your textual content for a particular page has a theme then try and obtain photos that are relevant to the content, if you need to then take several photos, this way you can send us the best copy. If you are able to get your own photos then great, if not then we can arrange a visit from our team to obtain any needed photographic material.

Overview:
In short then here is what you will need to consider..

A:Consider a domain name for your business and purchase it.(you can always ask us for ideas), and buy it from a well known domain name registrar yourself.

B:Look at several website designs, picture what it would look like branded to your business.

C:Consider your textual content, More is better and can be cut back.

D:Gather photographic images ready for use on the web.

We welcome question about any aspect of website design and marketing, photographic and video services, please do not hesitate in contacting us!

Have a great day.
Carl Hawkins.
